Prepare the bouquet
Gently remove the wrapping around the stems without undoing the tie that holds the composition if you wish to preserve its shape. Use a perfectly clean vase with enough space.
Trim the stems
Using a clean knife or sharp secateurs, cut one to two centimetres from the stems at an angle. This clean cut improves water absorption. Remove any leaves that would sit below the water line.
Refresh the water
Fill the vase with fresh water and replace it regularly. Rinse the vase and trim the stems again to keep the flowers fresh for longer.
Choose the right spot
Keep the bouquet away from direct sunlight, radiators, draughts and heat sources. Avoid placing it next to ripe fruit, which speeds up flower ageing.
Let the composition evolve
Remove faded flowers and leaves as needed. When some stems last longer, arrange them in a smaller vase so the creation can continue to live in a new form.
